How Does A Bio-digester Work?

For bio-digester systems to function properly, they must be installed correctly. Here are some
things to consider when planning your system:

1) Location – Where do you plan to install your bio-digester? If possible, choose a location where
sunlight can reach the top of the tank so that photosynthetic organisms can grow inside the tank.
Algae use light energy to produce oxygen and nutrients needed to sustain bacterial growth.

2) Size – How big should your tank be? You may think that bigger is better since more volume
equals more capacity. However, if you go too large, you run the risk of having problems with
overflow during heavy rainfalls. Also, larger tanks take longer to fill up than smaller ones.

3) Depth – What depth should your tank be? Ideally, you would like to place your tank at least
two feet below ground level. This allows enough room for air circulation while also preventing
flooding.

4) Water flow rate – How much water flows out of your tank each day? Make sure that
the amount of water flowing out of your tank matches the amount coming in. Otherwise, you
could end up with excess sludge buildup.

How to Install Bio-digester In Kenya

With Orchid Plumbing Company bio-digester installation has never been this easy ! We offer a
complete range of services ranging from design consultation through construction supervision
and maintenance support. Our team consists of highly skilled professionals who can help you
choose the right system based on your needs. Once we receive your order, our engineers will
visit your site to assess its suitability for installing a biodigester. If it meets our standards, then
we proceed to prepare detailed drawings which will guide us throughout the entire project.
1. Step 1
Bio-digester Design Consultation: During this step, we discuss various options available for
designing your bio-digester. Based on your requirements, we recommend one of the following
designs:
Single chamber : A single chamber design is ideal if you want to treat only kitchen wastes. You
may use either a horizontal or vertical configuration depending upon space availability.
Double Chamber : Two chambers allow you to separate solid and liquid fractions. This makes
it possible to recycle both liquids and solids separately.
2. Step 2
Site Visit & Survey: Before starting any work at your premises, we conduct a thorough survey to
identify potential problems with drainage systems, electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, and so
forth. We make sure there are no obstructions preventing proper flow of water and sewage.
3. Step 3
Preparations: The next step involves preparing materials needed for building the digester.
Depending on the size of the unit, we provide everything including concrete mixers, pumps,
motors, piping, valves, fittings, tools, and equipment.
4. Step 4
This is the final stage when we start digging trenches around the perimeter of the area where the
digester will be placed. Trenches should be dug deep enough to accommodate the width of the
tank plus 10 cm extra margin in case soil compaction occurs during pouring of the foundation
slab. Contact Us or visit our website https://www.plumbingcompany.co.ke/
